Abstract

Any motor act or action is performed with a certain speed. The complexity and importance of this motor skill made the field experts study it in detail. The scientists observed that the individuals' speed depends very much on the "genetic inheritance" that they received from their parents. The study, conducted over the course of the second semester in the academic year 2012-2013, tried to highlight the importance of the crouch start for the development of the reaction speed in children between 10 and 12 years old. This research started from the hypothesis stating that by learning an effective crouch start technique, the 10-12 year old children would improve their reaction speed. The subjects of this study were children from the beginners group of the CSM 2010 Sports Club track and field section, and fourth grade pupils from the Bacau "Alecu Russo" School. The research methods used in this scientific endeavor were: the study of professional literature, the experiment method, the testing method, and the statistical-mathematical method of analyzing and interpreting the data.  The recordings were made using the Alge Timing system, found in the Bacau track and field gymnasium.
