Abstract

Middle school represents an important period in the development of children, and a study on the dynamics of the somatic indices in a puberty-age segment of the population could highlight their progress over the course of an academic year. This research started from the idea to find the most important reference points for physical development between two developmental stages of middle-school students, which could constitute a motivation for an applicative intervention. The experimental study was conducted at the "Ştefan cel Mare" National Pedagogical College of Bacau, on a target group of 75 students, on whom initial and final measurements of their somatic parameters were conducted, over the course of the academic year that marked the initial stage and the final one of the children's physical development. The results of the research constituting arguments for the study of the importance and role played by the specific physical education lesson motor content in the middle school age groups and the recording of their physical development.
