Abstract

This study aims to point out the kinetoprophylaxis programs ‘role in the third age. This research was conducted on a batch of 20 institutionalized elderly who, for 6 months, 3 times a week, completed kinetoprophylaxis programs depending on their age, health status and results achieved in the initial tests. The kinetoprophylaxis programs aimed both at strength, mobility, balance exercises, and cardio-type exercises, gradually enhancing the effort level and their complexity. In order to have an assessment as objective as possible, each patient was submitted to: the Tinetti balance assessment tool, the one mile test and the index of Osserman. The final results obtained in tests show significant improvement in all the parameters researched (strength, mobility, balance, effort capacity), but also an increase in the quality of life of the elderly, thus creating them physical and mental comfort in all day-to-ay activities carried out.
