Abstract

The major purpose of this diagnosis, as well of this intervention, consisted in the mapping of the individual characteristics of professional athletes that were considered to be potential resources for the professional change and development. The diagnosis was completed by a psychological training program that aimed to activate and practice the awareness in the target group athletes in regards to a set of personal psycho-emotional resources involved in the optimization of training for competitions and of the actual performance during the competitions. The program tried to meet these needs, the authors being aware that one single training program cannot be expected to produce radical changes; however, it can form the basis for the athletes' openness for such endeavors. This study also intended to identify the way in which the psychological training activities have significantly correlated with the expectations of the athletes in the target group.
