Abstract

The research purpose was to monitor the evolution of heart rate for students who practice motrical activities during 8 weeks. The research was conducted on a total of 63 volunteer subjects (44 men, 19 women). Distribution of subjects for the three sports was as follows: Football – 26 (men), Basketball - 18 (men), Handball - 19 (women). The most important influences on heart rate was accomplished by Basketball, the differences between tests being over 4 bpm (heart rate  4.66 in warm-up period, heart rate -4 in the main part, the recovery part- heart rate  4.78, heart rate  - 5 minutes after finishing Activity -4.11). By applying the Student Test at all values of the five monitorized variables considered between initial and final testing, the data from four variables were significant at p <0.05 and p <0.01, and heart rate  before the activity variable values were insignificant. The study has been limited because of a relatively small number of subjects (63) and as a result the obtained data cannot be generalized to young people aged between 20 and 25 years.
