COMPARATIVE STUDY REGARDING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE JUNIOR HANDBALL TEAMS' SHOTS AT THE GOAL DURING INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Abstract
This paper took into account the fact that the analysis of the official statistics recorded during the Women's U19 and Men's U18 European Handball Championships can help us in creating the structure of the representative senior teams, as well as in particularizing the centralized training process. Our study focused on the dynamics of the shots at the goal (the total shots / number of scored goals ratio) for the whole team, meaning the U19 Romanian female handball team at the 2013 Denmark European Handball Championship, and the U18 Romanian male handball team at the 2012 Austria European Handball Championship. The results recorded by the two studied teams were as follows: for the male team, the effectiveness of the 6 m shots at the goal was of 74%; the 9 m shots, of 54%; and of 75% for the 7 m shots; for the female team, the dynamics was - 63% for the 6 m shots, 44% for the 9 m shots, and 80% for the 7 m free throw. Thus, we can conclude that although the male team came in 11th position, compared to female team's 5th position, the overall team effectiveness was higher in the male team.
