About the Journal

The first appearance of the „Gymnasium - Scientific Journal of Education, Sports and Health” was in 1994, with a frequency of one volume per year, published by Alma Mater publishing house, “Vasile Alecsandri” University of Bacau, Romania. Its frequency doubled starting with 2004, Alma Mater publishing two volumes a year since then.

Inside the magazine you can find, annually, specialized articles from the field of Physical Education and Sports, the themes of the papers being well within the standards of this field's activity. The journal keeps an interdisciplinary spirit, having as general focus the education and the health sciences, and the fundamental science oriented field: Physical education and sports.

This publication appeared from the need to communicate the results of the researches conducted by the teaching staff of the Faculty of Movement, Sports and Health Sciences, of Bacau, Romania, or by foreign researches, in this field. We have extended our area of scientific communication in multiple specializations, such as physical and sportive education, high performance sports, kinesiotherapy / physical therapy, sports management, physical education for handicapped persons, leisure and adapted sports.

The high scientific standards of the magazine attracted, during the course of time, many colleagues and important personalities of our field of activity, from national institutions of higher education, which lead to its recognition by the National Council for Scientific Research in Higher Education (NCSR).

Gymnasium (Online ISSN: 2344-5645, Print ISSN: 1453-0201) is an electronic journal aiming to present easy access to the scientific knowledge for sport science. It is a peer-reviewed scientific journal and provides open access to its content with a frequency of 2 issues per year - all published articles are accessible in PDF format, free of charge.
